Pet Safety
The time to look up vets, especially emergency vets is before your pet ever needs one
When you bring that cute furry bundle home for the first time, and head to the vets to get vaccines and a general health check up then you should be asking the following questions
Do you offer a pet health plan? If yes, whats on offer?
What insurance company do you recommend?
Are you 24 hours in case of emergency, get the number if they are
If not ask who they are linked to for emergencies or who they suggest
What is an emergency?
If in any doubt, ring your vet or the number they gave you in case of an emergency.
But toxins from plants, flowers, poisons, certain foods, bleach, washing up liquids, drugs both legal and illegal ones, foreign bodies, falls from a height, RTA's, seizure, GDV's, whelping in certain circumstances, bleeding, collapsed pet, pyometras, any kind of very cold or hot dog are all classed as an emergency. In cats open mouthed breathing is a call and run to your vets emergency.
